Welcome to the Duocaeli's Plotting Post for OFFline world AUs! Rather than doing monthly installments to play with this optional mechanic, we've decided to use this permanently installed post for players to come in and engage with our AU mechanic as they please.

How does the AU mechanic work?
Upon arriving in the OFF world of Crane City, characters will find themselves encountering NPC residents and others who react to them as familiar citizens, friends, and family. While not necessary, there is an optional mechanic for characters to also suddenly regain memories of a life they had in Crane City, whether it be an entire lifetime or as someone who moved in and took up residence later on. However, all characters will intrinsically know that the Alternative Universe memories they have of the OFF world aren't their real memories.

In addition, while characters may have OFFline friends or family resemble canon characters that can be apped, they must also retain some differences. This is to allow for creative freedom for characters being apped in.

OOCly, Duocaeli puts a focus on canon personalities and histories of characters, but we wanted to have the optional AU mechanic for those who wanted to play with it! If you don't want to opt in, there is no requirement to have a top-level or entry in this page. If you would like to engage, please follow our example for organization's sake.

This AU Plotting Post will be linked on every monthly mod post as a reminder for those who would like to engage in the optional AU mechanic.

AU Occupation: On the meme I had Syo down as a loan shark enforcer just for giggles, but perhaps that is too wacky to start with? Debating keeping that as Syo's gig on the down low while Fukawa has no idea, toiling away in the daylight as a disrespected intern at a prestigious publishing company. Or worse, she's making ends meet as an assistant makeup artist. Being around hotter women all day, touching their perfect faces...horrific.
AU Background: - Definitely still a writer, though without her canon prestige or fame. Let's say she has a bajillion kudos on Ao3 and is mortified that her AU self was writing trashy fanfiction this whole time, but then gets super into it and starts flame wars with competing ships.
- Family wise, she is half-siblings with Dimitri. Do not ask how that works. I haven't got any family plans beyond that and would want to consult with Nu before deciding what their parents are like, since her canon parents were pretty 😬😬😬 Let's just say there is a reason she is the way she is
- Her split-personality is still mostly a secret, though a less urgent one to keep since there's no body count this time. Perhaps if her parents are nice this time, they are gently suggesting therapy? Very, very gently.
- Syo has mostly been a nocturnal presence, sometimes Fukawa's bed will be empty and her window left suspiciously open. Nobody knows where she goes or what she does. Could she be Spider-Man????
- She is still a deeply unpleasant, paranoid, jealous wreck who falls for boys who hate her, but with a better safety net around she hasn't resorted to her former desperate extremes
- Freshly graduated! 19 and ready to enter higher learning and the job market! Likely shopping for college options. Perhaps you remember her as the girl who got kicked out the lit club for bitching out the other members and making their supervisor cry.
- I'm winging this tbh, I'm unsure of what else to put

But I'm also holding the right to veto it because this can always be dicey territory, where one party winds up being a scapegoat or made to be a bigger bad guy than they agreed to, so please keep that in mind!

AU Occupation: A high school student with a part time job. Or multiple part time jobs. He needs a lot of income to spend wildly on a bunch of anime merchandise, as you do.
AU Background:

Izuku's attitude towards AU memories will be baffled and somewhere between neutral and positive! He'll think of them as "not real" on the whole despite having the mental experience of living them, but he's also too nice to really truly treat people he remembers, fake or not, as not real or important. If someone is important to him in fake AU land he will treat them as real important, because that's how he is as person.

🐇 I never have any idea what I'm doing but in any incarnation Izuku is a giant nerd so we're keeping it that way, please and thank you. He was a nerd as a child and now he is a nerd as a teenager. Less of a bullied kid since not being born with superpowers is normal in the OFF?? Go team.
🐇 Works multiple part time jobs in order to spend exorbitant amounts of money on his hobbies (merchandise collecting mainly). These include random seasonal work, tutoring, and actual shifts. A social life comes second to this nonsense.
🐇 Some of the money is also being put into a fund for college and actual practical things. He's not spending ALL his income on nerd stuff. Just a dumb percentage of it.
🐇 Works very hard in school for good grades and obsesses over any less than perfect marks for way too long after they happen. He makes elaborate study schedules for himself and occasionally forgets things like "sleep" and "eating real food" should be inserted.
🐇 Similarly he sometimes schedules way too much part time work for himself, it's fine.

— parents are archaeologists and they travel the world, so she's an only child because no time to make more babies.
— but she still feels like something's missing a.k.a. her other half, so she knows how to play on her own as a kid but also craves that kind of connection with someone.
— lived in Crane City when she was a young'in but because of her mom and dad, she had to go travel the world with them.
— she was a student (still is in uni??) who does remote studying because she's always on the go, so people might know her name but not her face. only settled back down in Crane City when uni finally started because moving around sucks when you have a thesis to write and defend.
— studying archaeology too because it'll let her travel. also parents are both archaeologists, she likes history and ruins and rolling around in the dirt ... yup.
— wears white like a boss and never, ever gets it dirty. end of the day, the white dress she's still wearing is white.

AU Occupation: High school student who works hard at his studies and athletics in order to prepare himself for college and a future career, likely in law enforcement. What free time he has is spent doing things that further those ambitions, ranging from hobbies to part-time jobs. And occasionally has fun along the way.

AU Background: Details below.

Bakugo's general attitude towards his AU memories is testy and negative, though more of annoyance rather than anger. While he acknowledges they're in his head, he's too aware that they're false to put a massive amount of importance on them. He tries to keep his "canon" history and AU memories separate. While Bakugo can work with those memories as "default" in his responses, he's quick to point out "you know that's not real" when it comes to things that are embarrassing, piss him off, or otherwise make life troublesome. Otherwise tries to ignore them.

Side Note: Just because you're a friend, family member, classmate, or whatever other bond of Bakugo's in the AU memories doesn't mean you're spared his abrasive attitude!

💥 Bakugo grew up an only child. As his parents work quite successfully in the fashion industry (beauty and marketing), he's lived a relatively upper-mid class life, though his mother's explosive personality means he was disciplined enough to become a competent young man. Spent a lot of his early childhood with his best friend, Midoriya Izuku. Due to Quirks (superpowers) not being a thing in the AU life, he and Midoriya never had their massive falling out and he stayed friends with him even into their teenage years. They still have an intense rivalry with each other.

💥 As in canon, being born a natural genius/talent meant that Bakugo excelled at whatever he put his hands to. He gets amazing grades in his classes, regularly competes at different sports, and entertains a number of hobbies or activities. However, many of those were short-lived before he moved on to something else more interesting. This leaves him with a wealth of experience and skills, so don't be surprised if he shows up and is able to do great at whatever's going on. Yes, he's that kind of annoying guy. It's partially why he still managed to develope his massive ego and arrogance.

💥 Currently Bakugo employs most of his time focusing on his studies and athletics, gunning for academics and sports scholarships so he has options when aiming for college. He's notoriously responsible despite his delinquent attitude, so friends that want to smoke, drink, cheat, cut class, etc. won't make it far with him. He's the guy had has his schedules planned out and memorized, sticks to them like a stubborn bull, and dismisses anything he doesn't consider worth his time or effort. Doesn't want to mess up his record. Expect him to set aside hours for studying, go to bed at decent times, get up early for morning exercise routines, and review notes.

💥 Has had a life-long interest (obsession) with comic books and action series and is quite the closeted nerd about them. Bakugo uses the term "expert" or "collector" when it comes to these hobbies and refuses to admit his nerdy side. He'll get into arguments about the fandoms he's into and knows both trivia and merchandise statistics to an eyebrow-raising degree. Used to dream of becoming a superhero, but is currently thinking about a future in law enforcement. Like a police officer or something, though the option to become a sports star is also possible.

💥 Bakugo also grew up with an interest in explosions, be they from items like grenades or dynamite, or chemical reactions like nitroglycerine, so he has knowledge of military, demolition, and chemical explosives. He's attended building demolitions and structure collapses for both entertainment and studying. While he's not a pyromaniac or mad bomber, he certainly enjoys the power and sight of explosions.

💥 Katsuki's nickname "Kacchan" was given to him by his childhood friends in canon. Similarly, anyone who grew up with Katsuki during his childhood in the OFF world AU is welcome to call him "Kacchan" as well. Everyone else gets to call him "Bakugo" after meeting him. He uses "Dynamight" as his online handle for various websites. Like a nerd.

💥 Starting out with childhood friends for this dumpster fire. As a little squirt, Bakugo certainly was a lot friendlier than he is now. People who befriended him in his youth likely know more about him than other people who came later in life. He'll expect his friends to recognize his drive and behavior, so don't go dragging him down, yo. Could be friends from "day 1" till now, or even someone he's lost touch and reunited with during school. He's gruff and not afraid to say hard truths, but for people Bakugo does consider friends, he's a strong ally and no-nonsense companion.

💥 Wanna be a classmate or teammate instead? Bakugo as a classmate is more likely to ignore you, but he still considers everyone in the same class as him a rival for top spot. Friend classmates might be able to get tutoring lessons and assignment team-ups out of him, though he'll couch that in "don't want you to suck cause that'll look like i suck" excuses. Bakugo as a teammate is pretty intense, as he expects his teammates to both follow his orders (cause he's the captain all the time) and hold themselves to the same high standards he does. That said, he's mature(d) enough to realize the value of teammates and will protect/defend/cooperate with his team to make sure victory is completely assured with no doubt in mind. Now, if you wanna be rivals, prepare for the fight of your life.

💥 Hobby partners! Don't call him a nerd and come enjoy nerdy things with him. When he's not studying or training, Bakugo can be cajoled into hitting the arcade or going on outings or talking about those nerdy interests of his. Comic books, heroes, action series, he's the guy that'll attend Comic Con with a hat over his head and look cool and awesome, but won't admit to being super excited or anything. Or maybe you wanna be partners in his more active exercises, like running, rock wall climbing, surfing, martial arts, or whatever other activity you think might be interesting! Of course, if you want to blow something up with him... legally. Could even talk him into a part-time job or something?

💥 When it comes to family members, I'll keep it to cousins at closest, unless you're old enough to be an aunt, uncle, etc. Not sure you wanna be related to this role model terror, but hey you do you! And I'm also down for negative relationships, such as bad rivals, childhood enemies, or even something dramatic like criminal run-ins. Certainly would make interactions in the future weird, but that's another element of fun!

AU Background: I have not thought particularly hard about this part because when you're but a wee lad there's only so much backstory you can have.

I'm having him be an orphan in the foster care system. No one knows who his real parents are or how he came to be, he's still a wooden puppet in Crane City 8( What a mystery! He's definitely gotten a history of acting up and has disappeared more than once, having to be rescued out of less-than-ideal situations. Perhaps he literally ran away to join the circus at some point ala his "I'VE GOT NO STRINGS~" phase, perhaps there was an equivalent of Toy Island...unsure what that could be without going darker than i'm willing to, but anyway

he's a little punk in canon and he's a little punk in the AU. He's bounced around from home to home and now he's just kicking it at Dodo house, I guess? He tries sometimes in school and other times he just gives up in frustration. Pretty average student, most likely the class clown, runs amok in the streets, will endure no supervision.

Don't worry you're not responsible for him, just fish him out of a manhole if he's fallen down one and be on your way.

Looking For: NO PARENTS, sorry. But he will take casual mentor types! Pinocchio will materialize by your ankles and expect to be entertained, or maybe he'll just fucking torment you if you're bullyable.

-she's in school for horticulture or pharmacy or both. imagine that's her undergrad major before she decides to make her family's flower shop part pharmacy/apothecary.
-she has a normal enough childhood! she's competent and didn't make too many waves but was smart enough to get scholarships for school. the less she has to pay for anything, the better
-which is to say, yes, she does use her beauty to get people to pay for drinks and dinner and do favors for her
