Welcome to the Duocaeli's Plotting Post for OFFline world AUs! Rather than doing monthly installments to play with this optional mechanic, we've decided to use this permanently installed post for players to come in and engage with our AU mechanic as they please.

How does the AU mechanic work?
Upon arriving in the OFF world of Crane City, characters will find themselves encountering NPC residents and others who react to them as familiar citizens, friends, and family. While not necessary, there is an optional mechanic for characters to also suddenly regain memories of a life they had in Crane City, whether it be an entire lifetime or as someone who moved in and took up residence later on. However, all characters will intrinsically know that the Alternative Universe memories they have of the OFF world aren't their real memories.

In addition, while characters may have OFFline friends or family resemble canon characters that can be apped, they must also retain some differences. This is to allow for creative freedom for characters being apped in.

OOCly, Duocaeli puts a focus on canon personalities and histories of characters, but we wanted to have the optional AU mechanic for those who wanted to play with it! If you don't want to opt in, there is no requirement to have a top-level or entry in this page. If you would like to engage, please follow our example for organization's sake.

This AU Plotting Post will be linked on every monthly mod post as a reminder for those who would like to engage in the optional AU mechanic.

Character Name: Izuku Midoriya, here is his game info post & his general permissions!
Canon: My Hero Academia
AU Occupation: A high school student with a part time job. Or multiple part time jobs. He needs a lot of income to spend wildly on a bunch of anime merchandise, as you do.
AU Background:

Izuku's attitude towards AU memories will be baffled and somewhere between neutral and positive! He'll think of them as "not real" on the whole despite having the mental experience of living them, but he's also too nice to really truly treat people he remembers, fake or not, as not real or important. If someone is important to him in fake AU land he will treat them as real important, because that's how he is as person.

🐇 I never have any idea what I'm doing but in any incarnation Izuku is a giant nerd so we're keeping it that way, please and thank you. He was a nerd as a child and now he is a nerd as a teenager. Less of a bullied kid since not being born with superpowers is normal in the OFF?? Go team.
🐇 Works multiple part time jobs in order to spend exorbitant amounts of money on his hobbies (merchandise collecting mainly). These include random seasonal work, tutoring, and actual shifts. A social life comes second to this nonsense.
🐇 Some of the money is also being put into a fund for college and actual practical things. He's not spending ALL his income on nerd stuff. Just a dumb percentage of it.
🐇 Works very hard in school for good grades and obsesses over any less than perfect marks for way too long after they happen. He makes elaborate study schedules for himself and occasionally forgets things like "sleep" and "eating real food" should be inserted.
🐇 Similarly he sometimes schedules way too much part time work for himself, it's fine.
🐇 Goes on daily runs! Tries to stay active.

Looking For:

🐇 Classmates for whatever teens might be around? I'd love childhood friends. He's not the bitter academic rival type but he's an enthusiastic academic rival who will sincerely congratulate you when you best him as he's the opposite of a sore loser. Which may be worse for some people?
🐇 Part-time job coworkers or bosses? If you need a random teen who will diligently do odd tasks or general work for you, Izuku is your guy.
🐇 People he runs into when running? Make it a social hobby?
🐇 Anyone into [ imaginary Duocaeli anime and sci fi series ] because Izuku can be into several series and probably spends way too much time blogging detailed analysis of his thoughts on them. If you want to be into something together we can make up an elaborate fake anime soap opera. I live for that sort of idiocy.
🐇 I'd like family members if anyone would like this nerd to somehow be related to them?

🐇 Hibiki (wingsongs) is his older cousin. They like to fan sentai shows together, like nerds.
🐇 Works at Kaito's (nagano) ramen stand part time! They also like to nerd out about sentai shows. Everyone here is a nerd!
🐇 Childhood friends with (humblepie). They also go running together, track life.
🐇 A fan of Felix's (boarwitness) Minecraft streams since way back. Felix is also track-senpai and runs a coffee shop where Izuku works one of his many part time gigs. Sleep is for never.

So Hibiki works as a substitute teacher, so I would be down for him being one of her students. She's also a big runner, and I think it would be cute if they end up having similar routes. But really she'll probably see a lot of the works hard/workaholic tendencies that she has in him, so get ready for her to worry a bit over him. Izuku, please take better care of yourself (says the hypocrite).

Or, if you're interested in the family angle, hers is pretty big. He could be a cousin or something! Which would give her even more reason to fuss over him.

Why not all three!! He could have had her sub before and gone running together whenever they cross routes and also, cousins. Because why not! They can circularly fuss over one another together?

I love this, yes I 100% endorse all of this. I would imagine he'd probably be related on her mom's side, since her step-dad is American. That side is a little smaller, but that would mean she probably knows him better than some of her other cousins. She probably has tons of cute pictures of him growing up, too. Are you ready for some secondhand embarrassment, Izuku? She promises she'll be good when she's working.

Something that might be fun as the game develops as well, Hibiki will be coming in with about two decades of aikido training under her belt (as well as some pretty powerful wind powers under lock and key initially), but her body here is not well equipped for it. Cue training montages in the future?

He's too nice to protest the embarrassment...it's probably all pictures of him dressing up like a little superhero though! He has a one track mind sometimes.

Also, yes please!! Izuku is an expert in training montages for getting stronger. Just don't be like him and break your bones in the process, Hibiki.

Okay but the occasional cape and the super sentai poses are adorable. She probably dressed up with him too on occasion, because she's a total dork.

Breaking bones is never a concern. Possession on the other hand........

Kaito runs one of the city's biggest ramen joints and is always looking for part timers to do anything from washing dishes to waiting tables to manning the bar despite being underage.

He also runs. A lot. Morning jogger, evening jogger, running for his life at night because of assassins...

AND ON THE NERD SIDE, if Izuku has even the tiniest love for any Duocaeli-based Sentai series he and Kaito could probably nerd out for hours about the characters (and figurines).

tl;dr nerdy kid can have a nerdy boss, as a treat. Nerdy boss may also be a crime lord, but that's not important.

He would love a Sentai series, anything ~hero like~ is his jam and sentai stuff is very much that? They can nerd out and talk about the latest figures that Izuku is saving up to splurge on...nerdy boss is a go! Izuku would accidentally work for a crime lord, probably. It seems on brand for him.

They can chat about sentai as they jog and/or work...!

it's debatable whether Kaito is ACTUALLY a crime lord or not but he certainly seems to have his hands full with red light district politics and headhunters that the rumors will be buzzing about everywhere and it'd be hilarious if said rumors extend to his employees (read: poor Izuku being mistaken for a crime lord's lackey by the school newspaper...).

Also that is again exactly the sort of thing he'd stumble into!! Probably without even noticing at first? He's observant and super smart but he's also a dumbass. He's that kind of smart guy.

So he's a cinderblock. Perfect. He and Kaito are actually quite alike in that regard.

Also in terms of overanalyzing everything.... Great. Wonderful. I cannot wait for Kaito to have to try and explain the family business to Izuku someday.

He laser focuses and can miss certain things! But also yes overanalyzing, he takes notes. In notebooks. All the time, multiple ones...he'll do his best to understand the ramen mafia when he learns of it someday!!

you can absolutely have all three!!! as for games, felix started when he was really young streaming minecraft and roblox and then fortnite, then just worked his way through things. now he mostly streams team fps but he plays a bit of everything, and he's getting into mmos a little...

we can combine them in any way we like. for example:
- dragged back to high school as an assistant track coach as a favor since he went to uni on a running scholarship, ends up giving izuku pointers
- they get to talking about jobs and stuff, felix mentions they look for part-timers sometimes at the coffee shop he runs, so he should apply
- izuku gets the feeling he's seen felix somewhere before all this, realizes he used to watch felix's streams (or maybe still does)

Oh man, Izuku would really love minecraft in particular I think. Building things and sort of doing whatever you like in such an open world is very much his jam!

I love the idea of an assistant track coach giving Izuku pointers though!! All of that looks great for me. He will be enthused about it in a quiet nerdy way and maybe want an autograph someday...for a family heirloom.

i think felix probably took off as a preteen then teen streaming minecraft so his early streams are very cringe, but still fun to watch? in that way that millenial/zoomer cusp humor is...
