AU plotting post
au plotting post
Welcome to the Duocaeli's Plotting Post for OFFline world AUs! Rather than doing monthly installments to play with this optional mechanic, we've decided to use this permanently installed post for players to come in and engage with our AU mechanic as they please.
How does the AU mechanic work?
Upon arriving in the OFF world of Crane City, characters will find themselves encountering NPC residents and others who react to them as familiar citizens, friends, and family. While not necessary, there is an optional mechanic for characters to also suddenly regain memories of a life they had in Crane City, whether it be an entire lifetime or as someone who moved in and took up residence later on. However, all characters will intrinsically know that the Alternative Universe memories they have of the OFF world aren't their real memories.
In addition, while characters may have OFFline friends or family resemble canon characters that can be apped, they must also retain some differences. This is to allow for creative freedom for characters being apped in.
OOCly, Duocaeli puts a focus on canon personalities and histories of characters, but we wanted to have the optional AU mechanic for those who wanted to play with it! If you don't want to opt in, there is no requirement to have a top-level or entry in this page. If you would like to engage, please follow our example for organization's sake.
This AU Plotting Post will be linked on every monthly mod post as a reminder for those who would like to engage in the optional AU mechanic.

Player Contact:
Character Name: Feel free to also link to their permissions/info post if that's your jam!
Canon:
AU Occupation: Quick snapshot of what your character does.
AU Background: This can be as detailed or barebones as you want!
Looking For: Are there any particular kinds of AU CR that you'd like for your character? Childhood friends? Bitter academic rivals? It may also help to include your character's attitude on the AU memories - do they find them confusing and want to embrace them? Or will they ignore them to the best of their ability?
While not necessary, mods also encourage having a FROZEN "Notes" comment reply to your own top-level that lets you edit and include new AU details as you plot!
Otherwise, the entire post works like a general plotting area! Please comment under character comments to build AUs with each other. Don't be shy now!

rudbeckia de borgia • how to win my husband over
Canon: How to Win My Husband Over (webnovel) + Nightfell CRAU
AU Occupation: part-time English Literature/History tutor, part-time violin tutor, full-time university student
AU Background:
- Her AU background mirrors her previous two lives because she is trapped in an endless nightmare!! So a blanket CW for abuse applies to this history.
- The Amato family are wealthy philanthropists with a reputation for being charitable, and well-regarded among upper class social circles. Behind closed doors, they are corrupt, buying political and market influence, as well as dysfunctional.
- Rudbeckia is the youngest child of three, with two older brothers. An adopted charity case, she has suffered stigma from her peers and upper class society, as well as severe abuse from her adoptive family.
- Because of her circumstances, Ruby behaves as a "perfect" daughter – hard-working, cheerful, clever, and people-pleasing. This made her an easy target for bullying throughout her school years, as she never stood up for herself.
- She's been in a few arranged marriages organised by her family in order to secure political favours, business deals, or reputation; most of these were called off in the engagement stage, resulting in nasty rumours that follow Ruby.
- Her family are vocally devout Catholics.
- In terms of how Rudbeckia herself takes all this — as an isekai, she's accustomed to adhering to someone else's life and identity, so she won't act out against her OFF world identity in any way. But she doesn't want to abandon the hard work she put into her relationships from Nightfell either. So there's a divide between her ON and OFF world identities. Characters will know her as enthusiastically friendly in the ON world, and then find themselves unable to pin her down in the OFF world as she seems to avoid them. Ruby herself believes that if she allows the two to cross over too much, everything will inevitably fall apart and she'll lose what connections she's managed to scrape together.
