Welcome to the Duocaeli's Plotting Post for OFFline world AUs! Rather than doing monthly installments to play with this optional mechanic, we've decided to use this permanently installed post for players to come in and engage with our AU mechanic as they please.
How does the AU mechanic work?
Upon arriving in the OFF world of Crane City, characters will find themselves encountering NPC residents and others who react to them as familiar citizens, friends, and family. While not necessary, there is an optional mechanic for characters to also suddenly regain memories of a life they had in Crane City, whether it be an entire lifetime or as someone who moved in and took up residence later on. However, all characters will intrinsically know that the Alternative Universe memories they have of the OFF world aren't their real memories.
In addition, while characters may have OFFline friends or family resemble canon characters that can be apped, they must also retain some differences. This is to allow for creative freedom for characters being apped in.
OOCly, Duocaeli puts a focus on canon personalities and histories of characters, but we wanted to have the optional AU mechanic for those who wanted to play with it! If you don't want to opt in, there is no requirement to have a top-level or entry in this page. If you would like to engage, please follow our example for organization's sake.
This AU Plotting Post will be linked on every monthly mod post as a reminder for those who would like to engage in the optional AU mechanic.

Looking For: Are there any particular kinds of AU CR that you'd like for your character? Childhood friends? Bitter academic rivals? It may also help to include your character's attitude on the AU memories - do they find them confusing and want to embrace them? Or will they ignore them to the best of their ability?
While not necessary, mods also encourage having a FROZEN "Notes" comment reply to your own top-level that lets you edit and include new AU details as you plot!

traveler (lumine) / genshin impact

AU Occupation: i want to be a gremlin and say she's a vtuber/esports player (except no one knows this?? maybe someone, like 1 or 2 people?? because she tries to keep this under wraps)
AU Background:
— parents are archaeologists and they travel the world, so she's an only child because no time to make more babies.
— but she still feels like something's missing a.k.a. her other half, so she knows how to play on her own as a kid but also craves that kind of connection with someone.
— lived in Crane City when she was a young'in but because of her mom and dad, she had to go travel the world with them.
— she was a student (still is in uni??) who does remote studying because she's always on the go, so people might know her name but not her face. only settled back down in Crane City when uni finally started because moving around sucks when you have a thesis to write and defend.
— studying archaeology too because it'll let her travel. also parents are both archaeologists, she likes history and ruins and rolling around in the dirt ... yup.
— wears white like a boss and never, ever gets it dirty. end of the day, the white dress she's still wearing is white.
— oh, and her gamertag is AbyssPrincess and her vtuber model is ike eveland with long blond hair.

Looking For:
— Lumine would find this all disconcerting because of her multitude of memories from different worlds and now this. trust level in this world is close zero because how dare they make her feel like Aether doesn't exist. she'll probably do the motions of her fake self and won't do stupid things like pick fights, but will have questions about it including the lack of a brother in this world.
— she's just returned to Crane City (like maybe a few years ago), so childhood friends y/n?? i'll-marry-you-when-we-grow-up playground confessions?? did she punch your character when they were young and your character never moved on from it? did she protect them from bullies? Lumine had long hair before, which she cut short because being under the sun all day is stressful and hot and not at all like angelina jolie's tomb raider.
— brother-figure? big brother-figure? younger brother-figure? she just wants her twin back ...
— people who know her AbyssPrincess persona in the vtubing world/games she plays in? i'll have to figure out what games she plays, ah. oh, but she won't reveal it off the bat but she'd be like "lel, i see" if she finds them out

Also childhood friends? Please? Younger Hibiki in this AU was somehow even more bubbly and bright (aka trauma got yeeted out the window), so maybe she barnacled to Lumine. AU Hibiki doesn't know how to throw a punch, so maybe she was Inspired by Lumine taking it to the schoolyard bullies. She's like a real-life hero!

childhood friends with blonde hairs, probably got their braids and pigtails the same way while punching rude kids. i want hibiki to gasp when she learns that lumine has chopped off her long hair. but she'd love to hear what hibiki's been doing to bullies while she's gone ...
