Welcome to the Duocaeli's Plotting Post for OFFline world AUs! Rather than doing monthly installments to play with this optional mechanic, we've decided to use this permanently installed post for players to come in and engage with our AU mechanic as they please.

How does the AU mechanic work?
Upon arriving in the OFF world of Crane City, characters will find themselves encountering NPC residents and others who react to them as familiar citizens, friends, and family. While not necessary, there is an optional mechanic for characters to also suddenly regain memories of a life they had in Crane City, whether it be an entire lifetime or as someone who moved in and took up residence later on. However, all characters will intrinsically know that the Alternative Universe memories they have of the OFF world aren't their real memories.

In addition, while characters may have OFFline friends or family resemble canon characters that can be apped, they must also retain some differences. This is to allow for creative freedom for characters being apped in.

OOCly, Duocaeli puts a focus on canon personalities and histories of characters, but we wanted to have the optional AU mechanic for those who wanted to play with it! If you don't want to opt in, there is no requirement to have a top-level or entry in this page. If you would like to engage, please follow our example for organization's sake.

This AU Plotting Post will be linked on every monthly mod post as a reminder for those who would like to engage in the optional AU mechanic.

AU Occupation: cafe barista! probably the shift manager, despite moaning about the responsibility, he's actually super good at it? his coffee is also pretty good? so what's with his terrible customer service attitude?? is he writing everyone's names wrong on the cups on purpose??? (yes)

AU Background:

• grew up in a big, kind, loving and supportive family—truly good parents, cooperative siblings, extended family always over and hanging out in the big family house. the kind of family that adopts other kids in the neighborhood and always has a place for a surprise visitor at dinner.
  
• and they all fawn over felix, the youngest sibling, who was really the ultimate youngest sib as a child, cute as a button and crying all the time, always wanting to play the games with everyone else, regardless of what it was. he had no real pressures on him, and grew up with a lot of friends of different ages, thanks to cousins and older sibling friends coming over too.
  
• "do you have games on your phone" kid
  
• hit puberty like a truck, and started receding into a bit of a misanthropic state, during which he spent a lot of time on /r/teenagers. still came down to dinner every night though (parents love too strong...)
  
• got really into minecraft, fortnite, overwatch, apex legends, etc, and developed a small streaming following in his early teens. had a dream of going esports pro for a while, but ultimately decided it was stupid. has a top of the line gaming rig and a full streamer setup (his parents bought it for him to support his passions). has recently started dabbling in mmorpgs. still makes decent pocket money off his game stream ad revenue, but not enough to live on.
  
• track team throughout middle school, high school, and varsity. family is always there in some capacity to cheer him on. usually one of the fastest runners on the team, unless he's slacking to stream more. goes for a run every morning, even now that he's graduated university.
  
• liberal arts major at a relatively well-known university, which he got into on a sports track scholarship. kinda just coasted through the classes as his attention was mostly on games and running. graduated in a "Cs get degrees" kind of way.
  
• has a collection of game sword replicas mounted on his wall behind his streamer setup.
  
• couldn't get a degree-related job out of university, so took a shift at a local coffee shop, and found that it suited his schedule well, and hasn't looked back since. only recently promoted to his managerial position, which he accepted begrudgingly. (new shifts sometime eat into raids a little...)

Looking For:

• Felix will be utterly perplexed by the AU memories, but ultimately any involvement in his AU life will give people a kind of wedge into worming their way into felix's heart, even if it was an antagonistic relationship. the sort of "oh we're both in this together" mentality counts for something!!! for all AU memories, he'll definitely unconsciously be affected by them, even if he wants to push them away. soft memories will definitely unlock a softer felix... how rare...
  
• Family! come be one of felix's older siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins... parents?! I'm open to anything. keep in mind if you take on an older sibling role, this will prime you for a lot of messy felix feelings. :') do it do it doit
  
• Childhood friends in general! older sibling's friends, kids in the neighborhood, school relations! he went to public school, maybe you bullied him??
  
• SITUATIONSHIPS! PLEASE have felix have accidentally said something insanely flippant yet sweet off the cuff, leading your character to believe that maybe... they were a thing? messy! nobody acknowledged it! maybe they just made out at a party and never talked again. or talked every day!?
  
• RELATIONSHIPS!!! they WERE a thing!!! AU felix had incredible accidental game, and dated throughout schooling. were they childhood sweethearts? varsity dating? the only stipulation i have here is that they already broke up.
  
• Track team buddies/rivals! would love for felix to have his sports anime besties and enemies on track team. enemies to lovers arc......???
  
• Streaming/online buddies/rivals! did they play games online together, and met once or twice? maybe they collabed on a stream? maybe they still talk in a chat server and meet up to talk about game balancing. or maybe they have a super antagonistic relationship and do raids on each other's streams...
  
• Coffee shop patrons! you come here every day and he still spells your name wrong on the cup. once you saw him twitch a smile about it and you've been mad ever since.
  
• Coworkers! come work in the st*rbucks coffee mines or wherever he's at!

i just confirmed with omo that sometimes buzen will show up at the cafe when a shift suddenly needs to be filled so i think that makes him and felix sometimes coworkers..... also buzen stopped going to school but i think while he was there he should've had a track scholarship and been rivals with felix very funny

he'll still show up at his meets to cheer him on...... run on his behalf too, man....

Very funny that as shift manager Felix is probably rostering him… I think he likes the jock energy.

ALSO track rivals TRACK RIVALS!!! They actually probably get on super well in that antagonistic anime rivals way, a complete understanding of each other as they improve each other… and Felix pretends like he doesn’t care when buzen shows up at meets to cheer, but he’s SUPER chuffed about it. ☺️
