Welcome to the Duocaeli's Plotting Post for OFFline world AUs! Rather than doing monthly installments to play with this optional mechanic, we've decided to use this permanently installed post for players to come in and engage with our AU mechanic as they please.
How does the AU mechanic work?
Upon arriving in the OFF world of Crane City, characters will find themselves encountering NPC residents and others who react to them as familiar citizens, friends, and family. While not necessary, there is an optional mechanic for characters to also suddenly regain memories of a life they had in Crane City, whether it be an entire lifetime or as someone who moved in and took up residence later on. However, all characters will intrinsically know that the Alternative Universe memories they have of the OFF world aren't their real memories.
In addition, while characters may have OFFline friends or family resemble canon characters that can be apped, they must also retain some differences. This is to allow for creative freedom for characters being apped in.
OOCly, Duocaeli puts a focus on canon personalities and histories of characters, but we wanted to have the optional AU mechanic for those who wanted to play with it! If you don't want to opt in, there is no requirement to have a top-level or entry in this page. If you would like to engage, please follow our example for organization's sake.

Looking For: Are there any particular kinds of AU CR that you'd like for your character? Childhood friends? Bitter academic rivals? It may also help to include your character's attitude on the AU memories - do they find them confusing and want to embrace them? Or will they ignore them to the best of their ability?
While not necessary, mods also encourage having a FROZEN "Notes" comment reply to your own top-level that lets you edit and include new AU details as you plot!

Canon: Pet Shop of Horrors
AU Occupation: a wildlife biologist
AU Background: HELP i have to use my brain... he moved into the city with his grampy when he was young so they could run his grampy's little pet shop, but grampy has decided to take sabbatical now and left him to manage the shop while gone. just him, helping out with the pet distribution system while doing wildlife and conservation biology. does the city have a zoo??? anyway, he's probably there when needed. he does those conservation tiktok videos here and there showing him feeding the wild cats while they viciously growl at him and he coos delightedly. he also loves plants so the pet shop is full of them.
Looking For:
*not looking for any family, but definitely looking for:
- friends (even childhood friends)
- customers of the pet shop
- anyone who needs vet assistance ig (do u trust him when he isn't a certified vet...)
- people to have tea with even if they will be poisoned by his 1:12 tea-sugar ratio
- people who will bring him sweets as bribes
- anyone who love animals and nature, music, and art
- anyone who doesn't love those things so he can get mad and argue with them
- fellow lil weirdo goth and drama kids
- anyone who likes creature mythology or natural history. anyone with cool stories about the culture of nature of their world! professors, historians, etc both AU and not AU. he's a nerd, he loves this stuff
*his au memory attitude is curiosity and he goes along with it, but doesn't cling to them by any means
