AU Background: oh god uhhh this is jan on need-to-sleep-brain but—estranged from his family who are involved in gang stuff! He grew up tangentially involved, his mom tried to keep him out of it mostly but he probably did a crime or two. And then she died, so he ultimately convinced his family to let him walk away from the life entirely, though the downside is that he's cut off from any financial support so he probably works several jobs to keep himself afloat through university as i try to figure out what he's studying sweats. Also probably does a lot of volunteer stuff.

Volunteer buddies
He probably doesn't have a ton of free time for extracurriculars but he can't not be a jock so he does some kind of martial arts or sport when he has time so athletic buddies?
He is going to be very weirded out by AU memories because he already has enough brain problems help but he will try to take them in stride! He generally defaults to politeness so he'll take cues from how other people react to him/treat the memories
