CMD: Make a wish?
There is something you want. Perhaps it's something grand: to see someone who's long gone, vengeance, your life back. Perhaps it's something smaller: to win a tournament, your next meal, a discount on cat litter. It's that desire, as loud or quiet as it may be, that whisks you away into darkness. One single word greets you:
LOADING . . .
Duocaeli is a fantasy/adventure private panfandom game that situates itself between two worlds: one online fantasy, and the other modern day city. As Worldwalkers, characters will get to experience the best and worst of both worlds as they chase after something want, a wish that's promised to them after they've honed their skills. Yet as they progress through their journey they will be able to witness how the choices they make affect their environment—and perhaps how the setting may change them in turn.
For some characters that come into Duocaeli, the beautiful starting city, Avis Isle, might ring truer to home with its mystical tomes and boisterous guilds. For others, it might be Crane City with its modern amenities like electricity, high-speed transit systems, and you know, indoor plumbing that feels familiar. Regardless, characters must learn to walk between both worlds, whether that means fumbling around with a giant axe or learning how to work the self-checkout at the grocery store. Crane City insists that it is the location rooted in reality, but why is it that with every passing day, Duocaeli seems less like fun and games and more like a robust world of its own? Monthly events will invite characters on adventures where they’re often faced with making key decisions, and will have to watch those choices shape the worlds around them. Who knew reality was so malleable, huh?
As a game, Duocaeli strives to strike the balance between lighthearted slice-of-life and more serious adventuring, with opportunities for horror and other moments of gravitas. Some of the mechanics will allow players to engage with customizable magic, temporary AUs, and deepening character relationships. The game will borrow from a number of inspirations, including .hack, Summer Wars, MMORPGs, mobile games, and different mythological and fantasy sources. Over time, we hope to expand the game setting mechanics in additional patches! ;) We look forward to seeing you there!
